The variations of rhythms in this book represent only some of the possible patterns that can be used in today's musical world.  The rhythmical combinations are infinite when it comes to playing Percussion and/or the Drum Kit.  The beginner to the advanced performer can get a fundamental understanding of these rhythms, and then, go on to more simple and complex patterns in many other method books.  The student should be able to perform various time signatures, rather than playing in just common-time (4/4).  Practicing with a metronome with memorizing a variety of different rhythmic tempos is certainly essential.  So, when the student has to actually perform professionally - he or she is not stuck in a 'one tempo' rut.  Going out to see and hear bands or symphonic orchestras at local lounges, night clubs and auditoriums, can also be very beneficial.  There's Pop, Rock, Classical, Country, Blues, and Jazz music, one can experience all around the world, to help give the student incentive and direct contact with those who are performing more on a professional level.
